    The North Okanagan Hospice Society is looking for a skilled and compassionate regular cook to join our dedicated team of providers in a dynamic and rewarding health care environment.

    We operate a 12-bed palliative care facility in Vernon, B.C. for residents of the North Okanagan. The North Okanagan Hospice Society is a contracted partner with Interior Health and was incorporated in 1984 in Vernon as a charitable organization with the purpose of supporting those with a palliative diagnosis, their loved ones and the bereaved.

    Position: Regular Cook - 0.7 FTE
    Salary Range: $16.90 - $19.22 per hour plus $0.50 shift premium on weekends
    Union: BCNU Collective Agreement

    Under the direction of the Support Services Leader, the Cook is responsible for all aspects of the food service program for residents of Hospice House. In food preparation and service, the Cook works collaboratively with care staff and volunteers. The Cook provides direction regarding meal preparation to care staff serving meals to residents and/or food service volunteers.

    Cook shifts are 7 days a week from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. This position follows a rotating shift schedule with four 4 day shifts and one 5 day shift over a 6 week period.

    Qualifications: Training and Experience
    - Culinary Arts Certification or equivalent training and experience
    - Minimum Level 1 Food Safe Training Certificate
    - Knowledge of infection control procedures
    - A current and clear Criminal Record Check
    - Tuberculosis screening that has been completed prior to start date
    - Valid BC drivers license and access to personal vehicle for supply/grocery runs if needed
